IMPORTANT:  If you are licensed as a Professional Engineer and Professional Land Surveyor you should submit a renewal (online or paper) for each license and submit fees for each license.

Newly licensed land surveyors - must complete a 6 hour course/seminar in Alabama Standards of Practice for Land Surveying within 24 months of your date of licensure.

There is a $250 late fee for PE & LS individual licenses in addition to the $45 renewal fee if your license was not renewed by January 3.  Per the board members, there will be NO WAIVER of the late fee.  The board members are NOT going to review any request for waivers of late fees unless you were in the military and deployed.

On-Line Renewals (Individual licenses only)

Do not list any PDH activities obtained prior to your last renewal.  If you are using carry forward hours, you do not need to relist the activities.

On-Line CA Renewals (Company certificates only)

All Principal/Branch Responsible PE/PLS's must have renewed their individual license prior to renewing the company's Certificate of Authorization.

Check your PDH Carry Forward Hours

Your PDH Carry Forward Hours can be viewed using the License Search link.  The less information entered in the License Search, the better the result.  If you’ve recently renewed, your current Carry Forward Hours will not be seen until the web site is updated.

Continuing Education Activity Log

Enter the CE courses you obtain throughout the year once you have completed them. Login and check the information at any time. If you renew your license online, the activities will automatically be reflected on your continuing education page during the license renewal process.

General Requirements for Renewal

Section 34-11-8 of the Licensure law requires that certificates of licensure should be renewed.  Renewal notices are sent out approximately October 15 of every year to the last known address of the licensee.  It is your responsibility to keep your address updated with the board office.

The licensure law also requires continuing professional competency hours for renewing or reinstating a license. 

Your license will lapse on December 31 of every year.  If you practice or offer to practice in Alabama after this date, unless renewed, you will be violating the Licensure Law and are subject to disciplinary action.
